Between Hamburg and Scandinavia - framed by the North Sea and the Elbe - lie the two districts of Dithmarschen and Steinburg. Our diverse region is characterized by exciting contrasts. We are part of the Hamburg metropolitan region with the largest industrial area in Schleswig-Holstein - and at the same time one of the outstanding tourist destinations in Germany with the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea.
Between the mudflats and the economy, you will find research- and knowledge-intensive facilities as well as a region with the highest recreational value. Small and medium-sized companies feel just as much at home with us as an internationally active large company.
The settlement conditions in the region are ideal. It is a hotspot of renewable energies and thus the ideal location for all those who rely on climate-neutral energies in production, further processing, distribution or storage. Our region is located on the German Bight – one of the busiest sea areas in the world – the Kiel Canal – the busiest artificial waterway in the world – and on the Elbe with access to the third largest seaport on the continent.
The region is connected to the European highway network via the A23 motorway. Connection to the international railway network is via one of the main lines of the railway.
