Securing skilled workers is the principle challenge for both the employment market and the prosperity of the Lower Elbe and the west coast. Dithmarschen and Steinburg are among the districts in Schleswig-Holstein with an above-average decline in population. Furthermore, demographic change also leads to shifts in the age structure: As a result, the proportion of the population that is of working age will decrease by 13.1% in Dithmarschen and by 11.7% in Steinburg by the year 2025.
Actively shaping demographic change and using it as an opportunity for the region primarily entails keeping hold of young qualified employees and using the potential of women consistently and with more intensity. What’s more, ageing well becomes a necessary condition, especially for small and medium-sized businesses. Thanks to our intensive networking and cooperation with the players in the regional employment market and field of further training, we are fully aware of the developments and requirements of our region. Against this background, we provide companies as well as citizens with neutral advice in a competent manner and free of charge on topics pertaining to the employment market, (further) education and demography.
