Effective logistics solutions provide the drive to the entire economy in our region and significantly contribute to improving our competitive position. The establishment, development and engagement of appealing companies, meeting the population’s needs for supply and utilising the touristic potential are only possible thanks to qualified logisticians in the local area. Logistics companies from Steinburg and Dithmarschen are therefore essential for the success of the companies in the chemical and petroleum industry and the energy sector in the ChemCoast Park Brunsbüttel, the largest industrial park in Schleswig-Holstein. Increasingly, our native logistics experts also support globally-active industrial firms at other locations in Germany.
As part of Hamburg’s metropolitan area with a particular logistics hub function for Danish business locations, our region has crucial logistics infrastructures. In addition to the Kiel Canal with its locks in Brunsbüttel, this also primarily includes the motorway (Autobahn) connections, ports and railway connections. The continued expansion of the A20 with a westerly river crossing at Glückstadt will further increase the potential for logistics activities.
We have been supporting the positive development of the logistics sector in our region since 2007. For instance, we are a founding member and service provider of the Logistik Initiative Schleswig-Holstein e. V. Together with these and other economic partners, we are responsible for initiating, overseeing and organising various long-term logistics projects. This involves deciding upon various locations, developing networks, recruiting young talent and conveying know-how. Moreover, we plan on further intensifying our collaboration with Scandinavian – and in particular Danish – partners.
